Video Games & Interactive Narratives

Games have been a part of my life since before I can remember—some of my earliest memories involve watching my dad and older brother play Doom and Tomb Raider. It wasn’t long before I was the one sitting in the computer chair, helping American McGee’s Alice avoid losing her head and guiding Patrick Galloway safely to the finale of Clive Barker’s Undying.

I began my professional career as a writer in the games industry—on the journalism side. I have since transitioned into making games of my own, and I hope to make many more before my ultimate “game over.” I delight in crafting complex characters and immersive worlds; as a creator, I believe there are no bad ideas, only poorly executed ones.

My specialty lies in using interactive fantasy and horror narratives to tackle difficult topics like mortality, mental health, and what it means to be human. If you look closely, you can also almost always spot a cat slinking by somewhere in the background of just about anything I write. Don’t ask why—I’ll leave that up to you to decide.

Coming soon!

Shadow of the Curse-Eater (formerly An Appetite for Malediction) is an upcoming interactive fiction novel that casts the player in the role of someone who can consume (and purge) dark magic at will. Explore the mysterious Ushinega Island and get to know a diverse cast of characters—which includes everything from harpies and fauns to werecats and more—while unraveling the secret of the most powerful curse you’ve ever encountered.

chiaroscuro: an interactive fiction game

chiaroscuro is a free low fantasy interactive fiction novella set in modern-day Rome. A young American artist seeks inspiration and truth while wandering the Eternal City in the company of two mysterious creatures—one dark, and one light.

An ode to classic art and contemporary creators I developed as an experiment in Twine. Features five possible endings.

The Dragon's Last Flight

The Dragon’s Last Flight is a collaborative Ren’Py visual novel game about a dragonslayer, a dragon, and what it means to live—and die—well.

The demo was created for the NaNoRenO 2019 game jam in just 30 days. I am the lead writer and narrative designer on the project, which is currently under development.

The Harbinger's Head

The Harbinger’s Head is a fantasy/horror interactive fiction game in which the player is tasked with helping a harbinger of death recover his stolen head.

A solo project I wrote and developed using ChoiceScript, published by Hosted Games in 2018.
